Many anxieties sound justified. All try to avoid terrible situations as much as possible. A phobia is a severe and unreasonable fear of one or more objects or circumstances, as compared to fear. The level of fear is out of proportion to the threat that the feared thing actually poses.
Each and every one of us has a fear. Whether these fears are reasonable or the result of some underlying trauma depends on the individual. Lots of things make people scared. It depends on their personal experiences and individual behaviour.
Some things scare us so much that they jog our memories, while others make us pee our pants. People have phobias that are different from one another, which is why we act to avoid them.
People typically attempt to ignore their fears so they won't have to confront them, but make them meek and weak. People have to deal with them, but how they do it differs. By facing their anxieties head-on, some people can triumph over them, while others may unable to do so.
The following list includes nine phobias that people have that are rarely fatal.
Fear of height is called Acrophobia. Some people's fear of heights is so severe that it causes them discomfort to ride the escalators at the neighbourhood mall. People can develop a feeling of spinning, which is distinct from fear. Others become dizzy just looking at a tall skyscraper or a clifftop viewpoint. Normal fear of heights is advantageous since it keeps you from undertaking risky high activities. The phobia of height is different from this normal fear. When you are truly terrified of the height, even though it is totally safe, that classifies as a phobia.
SpidersFear of spiders is called arachnophobia. Despite their tiny stature, some individuals find spiders to be terrifying. Arachnophobic people are afraid to even just by gazing at spiders or their webs, imagining or expecting spiders to crawl across their body, or even just hearing about them.
DarknessFear of darkness is called Nyctophobia. It is an extreme fear of the dark. Kids are particularly susceptible to this fear, which can happen to adults. Nyctophobic may have problems falling asleep, experience panic episodes, and avoid going outside after dark or going into dark spaces at home. We first experience this terror as children when we hear tales about ghosts that prowl the night and attack.
Open spacesFear of open space is called Agoraphobia. Agoraphobics frequently struggle to feel secure in public, particularly in venues where large crowds mingle. A person who is afraid of open spaces requires the assistance of a relative or friend when going to public places. An agoraphobic individual finds it extremely difficult to leave their home and frequently refrains from doing so, even for urgent responsibilities. Agoraphobia can confine people to their homes or make leading mundane life difficult.
FlyingFear of flying is called Aerophobia. It makes sense that many people have a phobia of flying are afraid of flying because of all the media attention given to aviation mishaps. The chances of being struck by lightning or dying in a road accident are higher than dying in a plane crash. Fear of flying is known as aerophobia. Aerophobic may experience severe fear before or during a flight. Aeroplane travel for business or pleasure can be difficult if you suffer from this fear.
Closed spacesFear of flying is called Claustrophobia. Against agoraphobics, those who are claustrophobic are terrified of confined places encircled by walls and ceilings. When trapped in a closed structure, the person who fears closed spaces attempts to flee to open spaces.
DoctorsFear of doctors is called Iatrophobia. You may be surprised to hear that some people are afraid of doctors. Iatrophobics fear going to doctors and hospitals and having medical procedures done on them, even when they are ill. Even if they are seriously sick or exhibiting symptoms of a severe illness, they do not opt to seek medical care.
EarthquakeFear of earthquakes is known as Seismophobia. Those people who are most likely to experience this, live in an earthquake-hazard area. Furthermore, if you have recently experienced earthquake waves, whether or not you have a specific seismophobia, the dread will stick with you for some time. It is challenging for those who have this phobia to sleep soundly at night. The fear of an earthquake frequently keeps them up at night. Seismophobic individuals have phobias related to their own mortality and property loss. Other than an earthquake, they are terrified by even the moderate vibration.
Thunder and lightningFear of thunder and lightning is called astraphobia. Although it is more typical among children, adults can still experience this dread. Amid the storm, those who have this phobia could constantly take solace. When a person is alone, fear usually worsens. They might draw the drapes shut and make an effort to muffle out the storm's sounds. A preoccupation with weather forecasts is another fairly typical sign. During the rainy season, astraphobic individuals could find themselves addicted to the Weather Report or spending a lot of time monitoring storms online.
